Description
As the Office Specialist working at the ADA Evaluation Center, you will:
- Provide initial contact and information for both internal departments and general public on eligibility process for paratransit services according to ADA guidelines and FTA regulations.
- Determine correct forms and applications to be sent to applicants according to disability and track all contact with applicants in Eligibility software.
- Determines correct assessment for disability type and sets up transportation for in-person interviews and assessments.
- Enter all initial data and verifies 3/4 mile adherence consistent with UTA policy and FTA regulations.
- Verify out-of-state paratransit service eligibility according to ADA regulations.
- Provide administrative and clerical support for Evaluation Center and eligibility process.
- Follow strict regulatory compliance required by ADA and FTA regulations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- Two years in an office setting working with the public over the telephone and providing in-person customer service.
- High School diploma. Associate degree in business, communications, or related field preferred.
- Must be a safe driver with no more than 4 moving violations in the past 3 years and no more than one conviction for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs in the past 10 years.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Basic knowledge of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
- Intermediate proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Speak a second language (preferred)
- Typing proficiency at a minimum of thirty (30) words per minute net
- Be sensitive to people with various disabilities and their transportation needs
- Communicate with a variety of people including managers, employees, customers, and the public
- Communicate with customers having speech difficulties
- Work independently, prioritize tasks, Meet deadlines, Function well under stress
- Multi-task and solve problems
- Excellent interpersonal communication, decision-making, sensitivity and diplomacy
- Pay attention to detail
- This job requires predictable attendance.
