As the Long Range and Strategic Planning Intern, you will:

  • Provide planning staff support services to the Planning Department on all aspects of long range and strategic planning.
  • Assist Planners and Researchers on project activities, including by not limited to long range plan development, active transportation planning, GIS analysis and data support, data analysis, assisting in development of presentations, planning research, participating, and contributing to meetings with internal and external partners, writing, editing, and reviewing plan documents.
  • Completes other duties as assigned to support the Planning team. Work may involve travel to other locations for meetings, research, field work, etc.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/TRAINING

  • No direct planning experience is necessary for this position.
  • Must be a student currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, seeking an undergraduate or graduate degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Architecture, Business, Public Policy, or another related field.
  • Preferred GPA of at least 3.0, but not required.
  • Must submit a transcript of grades and (2) letters of recommendation.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS

  • Preferred proficiency in Microsoft Office at the intermediate level (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook), quantitative/statistical analysis and business writing.
  • Preferred proficiency in ESRI ArcGIS at the intermediate level.
  • Preferred proficiency in developing graphics and presentations, including use of Adobe CS software or equivalent.
  • This job requires regular and predictable attendance.

Pay Range: $20.52 Per Hour
