As UTA expands and evolves, we are seeking an innovative Long Range and Strategic Planning Project Manager to help steer UTA towards the future of transit for our employees and riders.
 
This role as the Long Range and Strategic Planning Project Manager at the Utah Transit Authority will provide you with a unique opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects, with technical challenges that require innovative solutions. You will have a direct influence on key policy decisions, collaborate with various stakeholders, take responsibility for managing program budgets, and make a significant impact on the Greater Utah community by improving public transit and promoting sustainable urban development. As the Long Range and Strategic Planning Project Manager, you will:
  • Manage, coordinate, and support development activities for various Utah Transit Authority (UTA) projects and programs.
  • Utilize technical project management skills and possess strong knowledge of transportation and public transit systems, urban planning, and the nexus between transportation and land use.
  • Oversee, evaluate, and manage the work of UTA employees, consultants, and contractors conducting planning studies.
  • Help oversee the provision of technical and business support to projects and programs.
  • Be responsible for or assist in selecting and supervising consultants and contractors.
  • Participate in resolving key policy issues and other strategic problems associated with UTA’s projects and programs.
  • Develop and manage program budgets, monitor progress, and ensure accountability.
  • Manage requests for planning data and analysis, schedule work, and route Planning Researchers for completion.
  • Coordinate planning project and program development activities with other UTA departments and transportation partners, including MPOs, DOT, and local communities.
 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/TRAINING
  • Six (6) years of experience managing successful delivery of planning, transit or capital projects using a formal project management life cycle tool, including developing and managing of scope, schedule, and budget. (A Master’s degree in a related field or professional project management related certification can equate to two (2) years of related experience.)
  • Experience in transit planning or a related planning field, leading project teams with at least four (4) project team members and dealing with clients both internal and external project stakeholders.
  • Project management experience related to planning or transit projects preferred, but not required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Transportation Planning, Engineering, or other related field, or equivalent experience.
  • AICP, ITE, PMP, PTP, PE or other professional certification preferred, but not required.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred but not required.
 
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
  • Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) preferred. Microsoft and/or Procore project management software preferred. Adobe CS preferred.
  • Expert in facilitating and fostering teamwork. Conflict resolution.
  • Excellent written & verbal communications. Continuous improvement.

  • Stakeholder management; customer and quality focused

  • This job requires regular and predictable attendance.

As a full-time Administrative Employee, your Total Rewards Benefits Package will include:

Pay Range: $89,000.00 or more, depending on experience
