The Director of Organizational Excellence plays a pivotal role in driving UTA’s cultural transformation
through development of actionable strategies resulting in innovation and improvement at UTA. The
director is responsible for building and maturing UTA’s organizational excellence system(s) and
continuous improvement programs. Oversight includes planning, directing, and managing of Agency
performance, process improvement, change management, workplace culture, and organizational
effectiveness. Partners with People Office to support increasing employee engagement and
strengthening leadership behaviors. Leads a team of performance improvement and culture
professionals as they consult with Agency Offices and Service Units to lead organizational change,
conduct assessments, and design initiatives that result in enhanced organization effectiveness. Ensures
use of people analytics and data to inform change strategies. Provides consultative services to
executives and management regarding strategy, organizational effectiveness, and systems design.
The Director of Organizational Excellence, also prepares budgetary recommendations required to implement and support organizational excellence solutions. Partners with the Director of Business Analysis to measure and monitor the overall performance and health of UTA and track key strategic initiatives. The Director operates with considerable independence, working closely with executives, senior leadership, and key stakeholders to deliver high quality systems, processes, and tools. Provides leadership, vision and professional development for team members and exhibits living the UTA Way.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
- Bachelors in Business Administration, Public Administration, Organizational Development, Organizational Excellence, Training and Development, Behavioral Science, Change Management, or related field or equivalent.
- Masters degree preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
- Five years in organizational excellence, process improvement, quality administration, organizational culture, or related industry.
- Five years managing professionals.
- Demonstrated experience in:
- Developing and implementing strategic plans and performance standards that are aligned with organizational strategies.
- Implementing large-scale improvement/strategic projects across an organization.
- Managing technical and operational projects that involve cross-departmental teams to achieve desired results.
- Creating a high-performance culture with a focus on a growth mindset where continuous improvement is embraced.
- Experience in applying continuous improvement and quality management principles (e.g., Lean, 6S, Agile, ISO 9001); hiring, developing, and retaining diverse talent that makes a strong, positive impact on the organization; budget management and resource allocation.
Knowledge
- Understanding of transit organization and systems (preferred)
