As directed by the Mgr. of Total Rewards, administers benefits-related programs/processes including leave of absence, return to work, disability and life coverages, insurance carrier payments, and retirement plans (deferred compensation, defined contribution, retiree medical accounts, and defined benefit).  Provides excellent customer service support to internal and external customers.

Enters and authorizes participant status/eligibility changes in HRIS, insurance, and other third party systems. Ensures compliance with company policies and applicable federal and state laws/regulations such as the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), HIPAA, COBRA, and IRC.  Serves as liaison between participants and third parties.   Educates employees/participants on the appropriate use of benefit plans.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION/TRAINING: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Human Resource Management, or related field
  • Certified Employee Benefits Certification (CEBS) or Certified Benefits Professional (CBP) preferred.
EXPERIENCE: 
  • Two years direct experience administering benefit plans.
Knowledge
  • Functional knowledge of laws and requirements re: defined benefit and defined contribution plans, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, and ERISA.
  • Functional knowledge of pension plans, 401a defined contribution, and/or 457b deferred compensation plans is preferred.
  • Understanding of benefit contracts and provisions is preferred.
Skills:
  • Intermediate level proficiency in MS Word, Outlook and Excel (preferred).
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and organizational skills, including during tight processing deadlines; and skilled in assisting individuals in stressful situations such as death and disability.
  • Detail-oriented, with proficiency in math, research, and database manipulation.
Ability to:
  • Solve complex benefits related issues as they arise.
  • Understand IRS and DOL regulations.
  • Work confidently with plan participants and third parties at all levels (including managers, executives, and retirees).
  • Reconcile monthly billings.
  • Keep accurate records.
This job requires regular and predictable attendance.

Pay Rate:
Starting at $54,500.00 annually based upon experience.
