Job Summary

Works with the rest of the Communications Engineering group to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair communications equipment in all UTA vehicles equipped with onboard technology. Assists in long- and short-term needs planning for land-based and mobile communications network. Assists communication engineering in determining RF coverage for UTA communications systems by using specialized software and equipment. Troubleshoots down to the device level as needed. Travels to remote sites as needed for repairs and/or preventative maintenance.

This is a Career Ladder Position.

EDUCATION/TRAINING

  • Associates Degree in Electronics or at least four years working with electronic communication systems.
  • Must be able to become certified as an Authorized Climber.

 EXPERIENCE

  • Working experience with Land Mobile Radio, installing electronic equipment in vehicles, and troubleshooting/repairing electronic systems to device or board level.

SKILLS:

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Digital Multi-meter, Spectrum Analyzer, and Oscilloscope.
  • Excellent written and oral skills

Must have a valid Utah driver's license with no more than 4 moving violations in the past 3 years. Cannot have more than 1 violation of driving under the influence of alcohol, any drug, or the combined influence of any alcohol or any drug, within the last 10 years.

Must be able to pass BCI, FBI, and UCJIS background check.
This job requires regular and predictable attendance.

Pay Rate: $26.202 per hour
