Job Summary

This position is critical in supporting UTA Operations as a member of the Bus Communications team. They work with the rest of the Bus Communications group to install, remove, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair communications equipment in all UTA vehicles equipped with onboard technology, as well as Rail and Bus passenger platform technology. Performs Preventative Maintenance for onboard and platform-based technology equipment. Troubleshoots down to the device level and replaces as needed. Travels to remote sites as needed for repairs and/or preventative maintenance. Prepare assemblies needed for installation projects as needed. Performs ‘Depot’ repairs such as recommissioning devices after a full reset to factory setting procedure. Reinstall of Operating System software, and other software as needed for the functionality of the device. Reflash of any firmware updates necessary to the device. Logging and preparation of end-of-life components for disposal. Utilizing available tools to monitor ‘health’ of the various communications systems and perform preventative, and corrective maintenance as prescribed. Manage projects with supervision such as campaigns and upgrades.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION/TRAINING
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Any combination of training and education greater or equal to five hundred hours (500) hours from an accredited college or university with emphasis on an Information Technology or Engineering field of study. Preferred 
  • Associate degree in Information Technology, Engineering, or Electronics, field of study. Preferred
 EXPERIENCE
  • Aggregate Four-years of work experience in Information Technology, Engineering, or Electronics.
  • Proficient with installing electronic equipment in vehicles.
  • Proficient with installing electronic equipment in vehicles.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting and repairing electronic systems to device or board level.
  • Proficient with Digital Multi-meter, and network cable tester.
  • Proficient in written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient with computer and Microsoft Office software.
  • Proficient with Microsoft and Android operating systems.
  • Proficient in Soldering and de-soldering skills.
  • Ability to self-directed assigned job duties. 
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Ability to manage small to medium projects with supervision.
  • Ability to train and supervise project task performed by others, including Contractors.
  • Ability to test software and or firmware upgrades and provide documented results.
  • Ability to create documentation of procedures and processes.
  • Ability to train others in the use of the equipment supported.
Must have a valid Utah driver's license with no more than 4 moving violations in the past 3 years. Cannot have more than 1 violation of driving under the influence of alcohol, any drug, or the combined influence of any alcohol or any drug, within the last 10 years.

Must be able to pass BCI, FBI, and UCJIS background check.

Pay Rate: $25.83 per hour
