The IT Software Tester (“Tester”) has test-related project duties throughout the Software Development Life Cycle. They are responsible for designing and conducting tests on software functionality and usability, analyzing results, reporting and representing issues to the project team, as well as validating bug fixes. The Tester works with developers and project managers to understand project requirements and planned implementations, as well as interacting with internal customers to understand the needs of the user. They in turn develop manual and automated test cases to verify requirements are met by the software being developed. The Tester should be familiar with both Agile and Waterfall development processes with the ability to work in a mixed/hybrid environment. Testing types include, but not exclusively: System, Integration, UI, Usability, Regression, and Static testing. Testing is executed primarily on software developed in-house, but also is executed on customizations to off-the-shelf software. Multiple projects may be ongoing at any time and the Tester needs to be able to switch from one task to another, as needed. The IT Software Tester works within the IT Quality Department and work is managed by the IT QA Manager.
