Job Summary

The IT Software Tester (“Tester”) has test-related project duties throughout the Software Development Life Cycle. They are responsible for designing and conducting tests on software functionality and usability, analyzing results, reporting and representing issues to the project team, as well as validating bug fixes. The Tester works with developers and project managers to understand project requirements and planned implementations, as well as interacting with internal customers to understand the needs of the user. They in turn develop manual and automated test cases to verify requirements are met by the software being developed. The Tester should be familiar with both Agile and Waterfall development processes with the ability to work in a mixed/hybrid environment. Testing types include, but not exclusively: System, Integration, UI, Usability, Regression, and Static testing. Testing is executed primarily on software developed in-house, but also is executed on customizations to off-the-shelf software. Multiple projects may be ongoing at any time and the Tester needs to be able to switch from one task to another, as needed. The IT Software Tester works within the IT Quality Department and work is managed by the IT QA Manager.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION/TRAINING
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a similar degree, or equivalent technical certification from an accredited college or university.
 EXPERIENCE
  • Proven experience as a software tester or similar role with at least 3 years of job experience related to technology
  • Ability to develop test automation
  • Must be a safe driver with no more than 4 moving violations in the past 3 years. Cannot have more than 2 violations of driving under the influence of alcohol, any drug
BUSINESS SYSTEM KNOWLEDGE:
  • Microsoft Office 365 applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
KEY COMPETENCIES:
  • Working knowledge of software and test design
  • Ability to develop an appropriate test strategy according to project requirements
  • Test case development
  • Test execution and results analysis
  • Test automation creation and execution
  • Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall development environments, as well as the Software Development Life Cycle.

  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Multitasking and flexibility
  • Ability to work in an ever-changing environment with minimal supervision
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB) Tester or Certified Software Tester (CSTE) certification(s)
  • 5+ years job experience as a software tester
  • 2+ experience software coding & development
  • Understanding of Microsoft Azure
  • Experience with software testing tools such as Selenium, LoadRunner, and Jira
  • Familiarity with transit industry helpful, but not necessary

Pay Rate: Starting at $69,786.08 based upon experience
